TIPS ON HOW I POTTY TRAINED MY CHILD
One of my biggest milestones in these uncertain times was potty training my three-year-old son. I couldn’t tell if he was ready or not, I just decided that since we were on lockdown for only God knows how long it was a good time to train him.I was ready.
Potty training doesn’t happen in the same time frame for every child so try when you think you and the child are ready and if it doesn’t work, your child may need extra time and that is fine.
🎯So I already had a potty which is the first thing, and try also to make it look attractive to them.
🎯Got fancy underpants; the cartoon character the child likes.
🎯Next, I spoke to him about it and practised even when he wasn’t ready.
🎯Next, I created an environment and kept the potty at close sight so he saw it as we played in the living room.
🎯Whether he needed to or not, we used the potty at 30min intervals and increased as he got a hold of it.
🎯I asked him frequently if he wanted to use the potty.
🎯 I rewarded and praised him when he got it right, when he had accidents I encouraged him.
🎯At night I wore him diapers and progressed to Mattress protectors
In the process we had lots of accidents but “I didn’t stop” so no matter the failures do not stop.
The days ahead may be tricky you might have to wake up at nights to take the child to their potty or use diapers as I did. We overcame and he soon refused to wear diaper even at nights.
Yayyyy!!! we made it…’Proud Mummy Moments’…
