Mummy life is tiring, Starting and ending the day with the children can take a toll on you.Don’t get me wrong children are a blessing from God and an amazing gift to have.
GETTING UP EARLY
I am a morning person so it’s easy for me.I learnt it from my mum as I remember seeing her get up early when we were children and getting everything prepped even before we got up just so that there won’t be morning rush. When I started having children no matter how tired I was was I would get up early and get ready before the baby wakes up so that I can be fully available to meet their needs and attend to the older siblings.
THE GAINS FOR ME
I can’t begin to tell you all of the benefits and the differences it has made in my life and I am sharing with you so maybe it can help you.
1.Keep a constant Exercise schedule, this has been my lifesaver as it’s an activity I love to do. Exercising first thing in the morning makes me feel good and strong to take on the day.
2. A bit of alone time:Having a bit of quiet time before the chaos starts because as a mum there is a demand from something for you all day.Praying and just getting the day started in your head.
3. Less rushed morning: When you wake up before you children you are ready to take on the day and anything they spring upon you, i can help without yelling, rushing and without an attitude.
4. Getting things done: Having things to do at the end of the day doesn’t work when you want to relax and watch Netflix or catch up on other stuff. So a to-do-list will work well when you are awake and ready to take on the day before the children wake up.I put myself first on the to-do list and every other thing falls in place.
Research shows that people are more productive in the morning than nights.
MY SIMPLE MORNING ROUTINE
I wake up at 5am everyday seriously after reading the 5am club book by Robin Sharman,
! Relax, plan and win the day in my head.
! Say a word of prayer
! Go for a run when i’m back
! Tidy up,
! Take a bath,
! Do a bit of planning
! Make sure everything is ready to school , packed lunch etc.
And I have been able to keep up this routine by
! Going to be bed early
! Setting an alarm
! Having a strong WHY
! Just planning ahead what I need to do the next day
Of course some days it doesn’t go as planned but then I pick up the next day.
Keeping this routine has helped me make the best of every day and just have time for other things. i am more productive, healthier and happier because I do something I really like before committing the remaining part of my day to them, giving a sense of accomplishment.
Are you a morning person and what helps you kick start your day? it can be cup of coffee, share with us in the comment section.
